Dial-up Networking
1. Double Click the "MY COMPUTER" icon on your desktop (Main Screen)
2. Double Click the "Dial-up Networking" icon.
3. Double Click " Make new Connection" icon (A setup wizard will start asking you questions).
4. In the box "Type a name for the computer you are dialing". Enter JBCS2.net
5. Click the "Next" Button.
6. For the phone information, type in "716" in the area code, and local phone number (see list below) ex. 5142400. Country Code is " United States".
7. Click the "Next" button.
8. Click the "Finish" button. This will take you back to the "Dial-up Networking" window.
9. Click on the JBSC2.net icon with your right mouse button. This will display a drop-down Menu.
10. Click on "properties" with your left mouse button. "Properties" is at the bottom of the list.
11. Uncheck the "Use country code and area code" box by clicking on the box. This will prevent the area code from dialing during the connection.
12. Click on the "Server Types" tab at the top of the window.
13. For "Type of Dial-up server:" Select "PPP". There will be additional wording after the "PPP", such as Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Internet, etc.
14. For "Advanced Options:"
No advanced options should be checked.
15. For "Allowed Network Protocols:"
Make sure "TCP/IP" is the only box checked.
16 Click on the "TCP/IP Settings" button.
"Server assigned IP address" should be checked.
"Specify name server addresses" should be checked.
The following should be entered.
Primary DNS 208.209.232.3
Secondary DNS 208.209.232.7
"Use IP header compression" should be checked.
" Use default gateway on remote network" should be checked.
Click on "OK"
Click on "OK" again
17. Click on "File" then down to "Close".
Now you are ready to set up your Internet Explorer.
Set-up Instructions for JBCS2.net
Instructions for Internet Explorer
Click on the "Start" button.
If you have boxes titled "User:" "password:" and "domain:" enter your login ID for "User:" and your password for "password:" Leave "domain:" blank.
If you have a "Dial-up Settings" section highlight "JBCS2.net" and click on the "Settings" button. This will bring up the "JBCS2.net settings" window. Make sure the "Automatically detect settings" the "Use configuration script" and the "Use a proxy server" boxes are unchecked.
Enter your login ID for "User:" and your password for "password:" Leave "domain" blank.
Ex. User Name ????????@jbcs2.net
Password ???????
Click "OK".
Configuring your computer for JBCS2.net E-Mail
In order to send and receive email via JBCS2.net you must use your Windows Outlook express program.
Open Outlook Express (This can be done by clicking on the letter icon found on your task bar on the bottom of your screen).
Open the tab "tools" scroll down to "Accounts" and click on it, and then click on "Mail".
You want to select "ADD"
Then select "Mail"
The "Internet connection wizard" should appear.
Type in your name, click next
YES you have an email address.
The next screen should ask for your email address, enter ____________@jbcs2.net
Click next
Enter pop.jbcs2.net for the incoming POP3 or IMAP server.
Enter smtp.jbcs2.net for the outgoing SMTP server.
Click next
Enter your user name and password
Click finish
This will take you back to the Internet accounts screen.
Highlight jbcs2.net and select the "set as default tab"
Congratulations you did it.
Click finish.
Select "connect using my phone line"
In the box "Internet accounts" that just popped up go to the properties box enter:
Your user name and your JBCS2 email address for your email and also the reply email.
Click apply the click ok.
Close out the screen.
